I regularly see men trying to look good, yet stumbling, with problem pants. Here are the three biggest problems I see:
- Pleated pants; it's not about trend, it's about what physically looks best on the man, and flat front looks best.
- "Diaper butt." When a man wears pants that are too big, has pleats or doesn't fit well, he can appear to have a full, saggy diaper in the back of his pants. Since most of you men potty trained long, long ago, I can't imagine this is the look you are going for. Since we see your derriere more often than you do, I thought you might like to know it's a common problem men have and yes, people do notice your behind.
- BSS: Big, Baggy and Short. I often see men wearing pants that are too big and baggy, especially in the legs and often too short. This makes the man look bulkier, shorter and unpolished in a cheap salesman kind of way.
If you just looked around to see if anyone noticed you are wearing a pair of problem pants, Bonobos (pronounced: buh-NOH-bos), may have the solution to your pant problems. If you are the lucky man who doesn't have a problem, but would love a pair of nice fitting pants; this NewYork clothing company is worth looking into.
Bonobo boasts they have "awesome fitting trousers." After seeing them on clients of different height, shapes and sizes, I agree. Bonobos pants come in many different colors, cuts and styles in addition to a variety of fabrics; including organic cotton. They offer casual, cotton, twill pants, all the way up to "insanely oppulent" wool, cashmere slacks. Stylish fact: Bonobos pants are handmade in New York.
The founders of Bonobos want all men to have pants that fit well, and are on a mission to completely eliminate "diaper butt" in men's wardrobes. Looking at the popularity Bonobos pants are receiving, I think they are on a roll.
One thing I especially like about some of the pants they offer, is the colorful pocket and waistband linings. Many of these linings traditionally appeal to women more than men, but perhaps the idea is to get women to want to see the inside of your pants? No matter what, you can always ignite interesting conversation by pulling out your pocket lining and saying "want to see what's in my pocket?" Who knew Bonobos could help you look good and avoid dull conversation?!
Back to fit, function and style. Like most pants, you have to try them on to decide if they are right for you. However, I recommend Bonobos pants as a a quality product that fits and looks great, and at a reasonable price. Join the revolution and just say no to diaper derriere! all trouser manufacturers are missing a big and growing market.after men start gaining love handles and larger stomachs, todays cuts do not sit high enough on the waist. this below the waist trend is ridiculous. the stomach and love handles force the trousers down. older men shop by looking at the zipper length. it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that a short zipper means no diatance from the crotch to the waist. Think back. 30 years ago mens trousers sat high on the waist. they did not slide or work their way down every time you sat down. they also made mens upper torsel look more tapered and the shoulders look wider. I challenge you to ask the question out on the web and get the view of men in their 40's and older. Sure, presently they are forced to buy what is now available but think what would happen if they started to see one brand that was once again giving them the high fit on the waist they all wore and loved years ago.

actually years ago mens dress casual trouser sat above the waist making the upper torso tapered and the shoulders wider when used with a belt or elastic waist band. key word is "waist" not halfway to the butt.
