Most men don't know what size they should wear and end up spending good money on clothing in the wrong size.
Wearing the wrong size makes your body look disproportionate. This man looks like he has a pinhead because of how long his sleeves look. See how the shoulder seams hang off into his biceps-making his shoulders and chest look disproportionately large?
Short sleeve wovens (button ups) are even worse offenders. What many men think is the right size, is actually a toga. The man in the next photo thinks he is hiding his big and tall physique when is actually just accentuating it. He would look so much better in about two sizes down (and a completely different shirt!).
I will admit, it's tough to know what size to wear because sizing is so inconsistent across brands and styles. At Hendricks Park, we are constantly adjusting and tweaking sizing for the different brands and styles we send out to our clients. For example, sometimes a client's order will have shirts in three different sizes as we've sized up or down as needed based on the fit and style. New clients often think we've lost our marbles when they see "the wrong size" in their box until their Expert explains why.
For those of you out there shopping on your own, check your shoulders, and for width, pull your shirt out in front of you. Your shouldn't be able to fit more than a fist between your chest and your shirt. If you can fit a bag of groceries in there, I guarantee you are at least two sizes too large and it's time to size down!
